Meet 𝕎𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕚𝕒𝕞! ❤️

William, registered name Summerhill Falkor Draconus, is a 5-year-old gelding who has been my horse since before the day he was born. Bred by Summerhill Farm in Belton, TX he is a registered Irish Draught Sporthorse by thoroughbred stallion TF Classic Twist, o/o Class 1 Irish Draught mare Tully Macs Lady Hawk.

William has always been an incredibly intelligent, curious, and opinionated horse with a huge personality. He may still be green under saddle, but he has never been short on talent or a willingness to learn.

William got his start in the show ring as a yearling and 2-year-old, competing first in the USEA Future Event Horse program and then the Young Horse Show Series. He was named the 2022 FEH Yearling Champion Colt, which was such a special accomplishment and an early glimpse of the potential I knew he had.

These days, William’s favorite things are learning new tricks and working at liberty. He loves having a job that makes him think, and he is happiest when we’re learning something new together. He’s the kind of horse who wants to know what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and preferably whether there are treats involved. 😂

One of the most special things about William is actually how he got his barn name. He was born  literally at the same time I was taking a clinic lesson from my riding idol, William Fox-Pitt, an Olympic gold medal-winning Eventer for Team Great Britain. I couldn’t think of a better way to commemorate such a special day than naming my new foal William, and the name has stuck with him ever since.

William is still at the beginning of his ridden career, so our goal isn’t to rush him. We’re focused on continuing to build a confident, well-rounded horse through groundwork, liberty, tricks, and eventually more time under saddle. He has already accomplished so much at a young age, and I’m excited to see where the next few years take us.

We love the Madalyn Jim rope halter we ordered this summer because we were able to get a custom size to fit his giant head, the easy hook closure is great for my hands as I have some dexterity limitations, and the color options are just stunning. It’s such a high quality halter and lead rope for the same or less than mass produced ones cost. William loves riding in a rope halter over a bridle so having one that fits him so well is a no brainer.

In his short 5 years William has taught me that sometimes the best part of having a horse isn’t how quickly you can get somewhere, but how much you can learn together along the way. 💜 -Paige, Owner
